GA4 Change History: View Account History
Use the Change History feature in Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to see who changed what and when in your Analytics account or property. This is useful for troubleshooting configuration issues, auditing access, and understanding how your setup has evolved over time.
Access Requirements
To view Change History for an Analytics account or property, you must have the Editor role or higher on that account or property.
How to View Change History
Step 1: Sign in to Google Analytics and select the GA4 property you want to review.
Step 2: Click Admin (gear icon) in the bottom-left corner.
Step 3: Under the Account column, select Account change history to see account-level changes.
Step 4: Under the Property column, select Property change history to see property-level changes.
What You See in Change History
Time: Date and time when the activity occurred.
Location type: Whether the change was at the account or property level.
Location name: The account or property name where the change happened.
Item type: The type of item that was changed (for example, data stream, Google Ads link, conversion setup).
Action: The type of change (created, updated, deleted, etc.).
Action taken by: The Analytics user who performed the action or a system process.
Changes labeled as "System (Migration)" were generated automatically as part of a Google Analytics 4 migration. Entries for [deleted user] indicate that the person who made the change has removed their Google account, so Analytics can no longer display their email address. Change History typically stores activity for the last two years.
