A/B Testing Best Practices

A/B testing is one of the most powerful tools in a CRO specialist's arsenal. When done correctly, it can provide clear, data-driven insights into what works best for your audience.

What is A/B Testing?

A/B testing (also known as split testing) involves comparing two versions of a webpage or app element to determine which performs better. You show version A to half your visitors and version B to the other half, then measure which version achieves your goal more effectively.

1. Test One Variable at a Time

While it's tempting to change multiple elements, testing one variable at a time ensures you know exactly what caused any performance difference.

2. Ensure Statistical Significance

Don't stop your test too early. Wait until you have enough data to reach statistical significance (typically 95% confidence level).

3. Test High-Impact Pages

Focus your testing efforts on pages that have the most traffic or the highest conversion potential, such as landing pages, product pages, and checkout flows.
