Retargeting & Audience Strategy Build

Audience architecture across Google, Meta, and your CRM. Segment definitions, exclusion logic, and retargeting sequences built so campaigns stop paying twice for the same person.

What's included

Audience architecture

  • Segment definitions built from real behavior rather than default all-visitors lists
  • Recency tiers matched to your sales cycle instead of the standard thirty days
  • Depth-based segments covering product views, cart, checkout start, and demo request
  • Customer, churned customer, and current pipeline segments from your CRM
  • Lookalike and similar audience seeds chosen from your best customers rather than all converters
  • Audience sizes checked against platform minimums before you build the campaign

Exclusion logic

  • Converter exclusions applied everywhere, including the prospecting campaigns that quietly retarget
  • Existing customer suppression on acquisition campaigns
  • Overlap analysis so segments stop competing in the same auction
  • Frequency caps by segment, since a cart abandoner and a blog reader deserve different treatment
  • Suppression windows after purchase

Implementation

  • Tag and event setup for every audience trigger
  • Customer list uploads with match rate reported and improved where possible
  • Consent handling so audiences only include people who allowed it
  • CRM audience sync where your platform supports it
  • Cross-platform naming so the same segment is recognizable in Google, Meta, and your CRM

Sequencing

  • Message mapped to funnel stage so each segment sees something relevant
  • Sequential logic where the second ad follows from the first
  • Budget allocation across prospecting, retargeting, and retention with a defensible split
  • Measurement plan covering incrementality, because retargeting reports flatter themselves

Why it matters

Most retargeting is one audience of every visitor from the last thirty days, seeing one ad, at a frequency that would count as harassment in any other channel. It reports well, because people who were going to buy anyway get shown an ad first and the platform claims the sale.

Better segmentation costs nothing and changes the maths. Someone who abandoned checkout yesterday and someone who read a blog post three weeks ago are different problems. Exclusions matter just as much, and the most common finding in this work is that a client has been paying to retarget their own existing customers for a year.

What clients say

Thomas is a certified expert. Not only did he help set up all the Google and Facebook analytic tags/pixels, he was also very helpful in walking us through how to use them. He is very knowledgeable and friendly. Would 100% recommend him. Thanks for the great job Thomas!

Bryce Alsten

Wow! Blown away by their expertise and speed as well as communication. We had a botched Google tagging job that needed to be fixed and they jumped right in and had it done in the same day. I'm recommending them to everyone I know needing help with the Google suite of business tools.
